Erin Chalstrom comes by event planning, honestly. It is part of who she is. As her family can attest, she makes everything she does, an event. Whether it’s a vacation to Hawaii, or her children’s birthday parties, her laptop contains spreadsheets for each—so highly organized that her kids can find them. That’s how she approaches her work at Your Story—except she tailors events specifically to her client’s needs and gives each one, a professional finish.
Erin’s career in event planning began in college at Washington State University. As a Career Placement Coordinator she worked with corporate recruiters to plan showcases for graduating seniors entering the work force. After earning her BBA in hotel and restaurant management, she developed her skills planning state conferences and corporate meetings—eventually applying her talents to Alaska-based non-profits.
Kayla Corey
Assistant Planner
Kayla Corey has dreamed of weddings and big events since she was a little girl. Meeting Erin and becoming a part of the Your Story team has been such a blessing to her. Kayla first dipped her toes into the wedding world back in 2013 when she became a stylist working at David’s Bridal in California. She quickly climbed to becoming one of the top stylists in the business earning a spot in The Circle of Excellence. Helping each bride find the gown of her dreams was very rewarding. She has worked very closely with not only the bride, but the bridal party as well as mothers of the bride and groom.
While working at David’s Bridal she became engaged, and began to plan a wedding of her own. It was then that she decided she needed to follow her passion into the wedding and event planning business.
Kayla married her husband in spring of 2016 and decided that moving back home to Alaska to raise her family was where they needed to be. Summer of 2016 she began working with Erin assisting in weddings, galas, and special events. Attention to detail and seeing an event fall beautifully into place is what she strives for. Watching a bride and groom celebrate with all of their friends and family in a beautiful setting is very fulfilling for her. Her goal when planning every event is to make the day splendidly memorable.
Kassie Whelchel
Event Assistant
Kassie Whelchel was born and raised in Fairbanks. She is currently pursuing a degree in marketing at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, and her hobbies include dancing, socializing, and drinking coffee. From a young age, her love for organizing, planning, and making things beautiful was evident. As she grew, she was given more and more opportunities for these skills to be honed. Her first experience with event coordination came about when her sister got married; as her maid of honor and with her out of the country, Kassie choose to take on a large part of the planning process. She absolutely loved it and from then on, knew it was a deep passion.
Kassie joined the Your Story team in 2018. She continues to love creating special experiences and one-of-a-kind moments for their clients. With each wedding and event, she sees in greater amounts the unique beauty that Your Story brings to life.
